Quiet Purpose

November 8, 2017 by Aaron Nelson Leave a Comment

I watched this short video by Dan Pink yesterday, and found his point around having a ‘Quiet Purpose’ to be so interesting.

Quiet Purpose according to Pink:  (In a nutshell) Having a strong sense of purpose is a powerful motivator at work and in life. But we don’t have to equate a sense of purpose with something massive like altering climate change, or ending poverty though these are both worthy purposes.

Quiet purpose can be about developing awareness of how our work, and our interactions with others, is making a contribution to their lives.

Here’s what I’m thinking: if you’re slogging through a job you hate today, maybe working on your career change strategy…but slogging none the less, why not consider your quiet purpose for today? Why are you coming to work? What contribution are you making to someone else’s life?

Maybe awareness of your quiet purpose will help you as you move forward to finding your calling?

What is your quiet purpose?
